About Oconomowoc Water Softener Co.

Oconomowoc Water Softener Co. is how ZeroGrain Water LLC, a Wisconsin company, trades in and around the city. It exists for a city that drinks only its own well water, and for the homes around it in Lac La Belle and Summit.

What happens on our end

We take quote calls on weekdays from 7am to 5pm, work out the size from the city's report or your well's lab results and your household, provide everything from the softener and brine tank to the RO drinking faucet, and book the installation.

One price comes on that call. No one comes to the house to look first or to sell.

What the plumbing contractor does

Installation is done by a plumbing contractor that Wisconsin licenses. The softener's drain line drops into a drain over an open air gap, and that hookup is plumbing as far as Wisconsin is concerned, under chapter 145 of its statutes.

The contractor measures your water first, then again from a faucet after everything is connected, and keeps measuring until the reading is zero.

Why Oconomowoc, and where

Oconomowoc's water comes only from its own deep wells, sits far above the USGS mark for very hard water, and was published higher in the 2025 report than in the 2022 one. A softener here is set for groundwater with no change in sight, and a site about Oconomowoc can say exactly that.

Covered here: the City of Oconomowoc, Lac La Belle, which took in the former Town of Oconomowoc, and Summit.

Common questions

Is this the city water utility?

No. The name is privately held and has nothing to do with running the city's seven wells. Billing, service and questions about the annual water quality report belong with the City of Oconomowoc water utility.
